Past two weeks I’ve handled four calls — two Kia Souls, a 2019 Silverado, and a 2017 Civic — where an aftermarket remote start fought the factory immobilizer and left the owner locked out with a no-start. This is after 9 pm in colder temps, and I’m curious if others are seeing the same pattern or have a reliable fix that doesn’t compromise the vehicle’s security.
“After 9 pm” cold did it; EVO-ALL reflash and immobilizer re-learn fixed a 2017 Civic. Use tach mode if flaky.
Saw this on a 2019 Silverado and a Soul — cold-crank voltage sag was resetting the bypass (like trying to shake hands while someone kills the lights); moving the module power to a dedicated fused battery feed with a clean chassis ground and adding a 1–2 s ‘IGN on before crank’ delay stopped the no-starts. If that doesn’t do it, flip the bypass to W2W for transponder only and let the starter handle locks/CAN, @victorh99.
